Getting the natural log of a number

The natural log is the logarithm to the base E of a variable x is defined as the power to which you would raise E to get x. If the logarithm to the base E of x is equal to y, then b raised to the y power will give you the value x.
In Java:

import java.math.*;

public class Main
{
   public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
      System.out.println(Math.log(0.5));
      System.out.println(Math.pow(Math.E, Math.log(0.5)));
   }
}

outputs:

-0.6931471805599453
0.5
